Kelsey Plum of the LA Sparks found herself frustrated with the officiating in a recent game against the Golden State Valkyries. After missing a crucial jumper at the end of regulation, Plum expressed her discontent with the referees, citing what she believed to be unfair treatment compared to her opponents. Despite her complaints, the Valkyries managed to secure an 89-81 victory in overtime.

Plum’s performance on the court was commendable, going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and displaying efficiency when attacking the rim. She was relentless in driving to the basket, drawing fouls and creating scoring opportunities for her team. However, the lack of calls from the referees left Plum visibly frustrated, as she felt she was not receiving the same treatment as her counterparts.

In overtime, Plum continued to be aggressive but struggled to convert her attempts, going 1-for-4 from the field. The Sparks managed to score only three points in the extra period, with Plum and Azura Stevens contributing to the tally. Dearica Hamby, on the other hand, struggled with her shot selection, missing all three attempts near the basket.

Despite the loss, the LA Sparks rank among the top three teams in the WNBA for free-throw attempts. Following their game against the Valkyries, the Sparks improved their average to 22.1 free-throw attempts per game, tying them for second place with the New York Liberty. The Washington Mystics lead the league with an average of 24.8 FTAs per game.

Kelsey Plum and Dearica Hamby lead the Sparks in free-throw attempts, with Plum averaging 5.6 per game and Hamby averaging 7.0. Their aggressive playing styles contribute to the team’s high number of free-throw opportunities, with both players proving to be effective drivers for the Sparks’ offense.

In conclusion, despite the frustrations with the officiating, Kelsey Plum and the LA Sparks continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the WNBA. Their commitment to attacking the basket and drawing fouls has propelled them to the top ranks in free-throw attempts, showcasing their aggressive and relentless style of play. As they continue to compete at a high level, Plum and her teammates will look to overcome any obstacles, including questionable calls from the referees, as they strive for success in the league.
