On Thursday, China’s Ministry of Commerce instituted new regulations that require foreign entities to secure licenses for products containing rare earth elements that account for at least 0.1 of the goods’ value, as well as for exports that utilize extraction, refining, or magnet recycling technologies.
As these minerals are crucial for various industries including semiconductors, automotive, and aerospace, the new limitations are expected to have a positive impact on U.S. rare earth producers such as Energy Fuels Inc. (NYSEAmerican:UUUU), MP Materials, USA Rare Earth, Ramaco Resources, and Lithium Americas, among others.
This announcement has further fueled optimism among local producers, particularly after gaining backing from President Donald Trump following government equity investments in Lithium Americas and MP Materials, aimed at enhancing domestic rare earth production.
