In Aron Wiesenfeld’s works, figures are depicted in mysterious settings, whether they are playing a game of Uno on a dimly lit patio or stepping into a still body of water under a dark night sky. His paintings and drawings invite viewers into a world of infinite intrigue, exploring the dynamics of visibility and imagination. He employs unusual lighting to create silhouettes and obscure distances, with individuals often looking beyond the frame or moving into hidden spaces.

Wiesenfeld’s scenes frequently occur at dusk or in darkness, where the background slowly disappears. This creates subtle tension in many of his pieces, such as “Transfer,” where a black dog turns away as light from an unseen source illuminates a mother and her child. In “Reunion,” a boy wearing a crown looks directly at the viewer while a serious conversation unfolds behind him.

Although the scenes are complex and open to interpretation, there is no sense of danger, but rather an emphasis on curiosity and multiple interpretations. Wiesenfeld captures tranquil interactions among people and with nature, evoking fleeting moments from memories, dreams, and uncertain narratives.

Wiesenfeld is also working on a graphic novel set to be published in France this September under the title La Fuite. Pre-orders for the French edition are available now. An English version, Runoff, is planned for release next year through Image Comics. More updates can be found on the artist’s Instagram.
