Her revealing memoir has received the mayor’s endorsement.
Mayor Eric Adams unexpectedly endorsed his former girlfriend Jasmine Ray’s latest memoir, which candidly recounts their clandestine relationship from a decade ago.
Adams lauded Ray—who he previously appointed as the city’s inaugural sports czar with a salary of $160,000—expressing admiration for her self-published work, “Political Humanity,” which offers insights into the inner workings of City Hall.
“Jas has always exemplified integrity,” he articulated in a Thursday post on X. “Crafting this book was a challenging journey for her, but she wanted to convey the mission, the labor, and the human elements behind the headlines.”
“I hold great respect for her efforts, and I truly enjoyed reading it. I encourage everyone to pick up her book.”
In her memoir, Ray, 42, candidly discusses her unreturned affections for Adams, 65, even after their two-year relationship concluded in 2016.
Additionally, she lifts the veil on intriguing aspects of his private life.
The memoir unveils Adams’ emotional turmoil when former Mayor Michael Bloomberg supported Andrew Cuomo in this year’s mayoral race, as well as deeply personal moments shared between Ray and the then-Brooklyn borough president, including how she would rub a scar on his head “for hours” to soothe him.
The former sports czar criticized what she views as a double standard in the treatment of prominent Black politicians like Adams while recognizing that he has surrounded himself with individuals unqualified for their roles in City Hall.
The book was published just after Adams declared he would withdraw from the mayoral race in New York City.
Ray expressed to The Post in a recent interview that Adams should not have abandoned his re-election campaign, despite the challenges posed by his significant corruption case.
“I believe he erred by stepping down,” she stated. “I also think the city erred in turning its back on him.”
Prior to the book’s announcement, the mayor had not made his previous romance with Ray public.
He has been involved in a year-long relationship with his girlfriend Tracey Collins—a topic that was not covered in Ray’s memoir.
