A helicopter that spiraled uncontrollably and crashed on a California beach, injuring five individuals, was owned by an adventurous pilot renowned for executing daring stunts.
Aviation buff Eric Nixon frequently shares footage of his thrilling flying maneuvers while operating his Bell 22SP helicopter on Instagram.
His father-in-law, Jerry Miller, verified to the Orange County Register that Nixon was among those hurt in the tragic accident in Huntington Beach on Saturday.
âHeâs currently hospitalized with some broken ribs, crushed vertebrae, and multiple bruises,â Miller informed the local news.
âBut Iâm sorry, we have some pressing matters,â he said before abruptly ending the conversation.
Nixonâs helicopter crash happened just prior to its scheduled appearance at the âCars and Coptersâ event taking place that day.
A child and two adults on the ground were also injured, along with Nixon and another passenger in the helicopter. Their medical statuses are currently unknown.
The helicopter was en route to join a vibrant exhibition of luxurious vehicles and private helicopters on the beach when it seemingly lost control, plummeting in front of startled witnesses.
