Erika Kirk, widow of the late Charlie Kirk, opened up about the harrowing moment she saw her husband’s body at the hospital following the tragic assassination of the conservative figure, sharing a poignant revelation she kept from him during his life.

“His eyelids were partially open, and he wore a serene, Mona Lisa-like smile. It was as if he had departed this world feeling fulfilled. Like Jesus had embraced him. The bullet struck, he blinked, and then he found himself in heaven,” Erika recounted in a heartfelt interview with the New York Times.

She also noted that the sheriff had cautioned her against viewing her husband’s body due to the horrific injury inflicted upon his neck.

“With utmost respect, I insisted on seeing what they had done to him,” recalled the courageous mother of two, addressing the sheriff.

Erika expressed that she was able to bid her beloved farewell at the hospital, a moment she missed that morning as he headed to what would become his last speaking engagement at Utah Valley University.

She delivered a heartfelt speech during the large memorial service for Charlie on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, where she revealed the “secret” she had withheld from Charlie.

She spoke about how she looked “directly at her husband’s lifeless form” and “noticed the wound that ended his life.”

“But there was something more. Even in his death, I could still see the love of my life. I caught sight of that single gray hair on the side of his head, the one I never mentioned to him,” she shared.

“Now he knows. Sorry, babe, I’m spilling the beans now,” she quipped.

Kirk spoke of the smile that lingered on Charlie’s lips during her poignant tribute.

“I saw the slightest smile on his lips. And that told me something significant,” she remarked.

“It revealed a profound mercy from God amid this tragedy. When I witnessed that, it reassured me that Charlie suffered little. Even the doctor said that it was incredibly swift,” she recalled.

“One moment, Charlie was engaging in what he loved most, debating and discussing… then he blinked… and encountered his savior in paradise,” she continued.

“Though Charlie departed this life far too soon, he was prepared to meet his fate,” Kirk added.

As the newly appointed chairwoman of Turning Point USA, the organization her husband established, she bravely proclaimed her forgiveness for his assailant.

“He sought to uplift young lives, just like that individual who took his own,” she said, tears in her eyes.

“I forgive him because that is what Christ would do. And that’s what Charlie would want.”
