In a recent Zoom interview, Naranjo expressed the pressure young designers feel to follow the trends set by established brands, despite facing challenges in resources. However, he has found success by defining his own path and vision for his brand, allowing his creativity to flourish. Unlike many designers who opt for runway shows, Naranjo intentionally chose not to showcase his collection on the catwalk. He believes that the runway format can create unnecessary pressure to impress quickly, whereas he values a slower, more deliberate approach to his work. By taking things step by step and at his own pace, Naranjo is carving out a unique space for his brand in the industry.

One of the key aspects of Naranjo’s design process is his emphasis on personal connection with his clients. Operating mainly on a made-to-order basis, he values the feedback he receives during fittings and focuses on using fabrics that his customers love, such as silk and tulle. The balance between structure and flow in his garments is what sets them apart, with wide bands of elastic replacing traditional closures to allow for ease of movement.

Drawing inspiration from artists like Rebecca Horn and Loïe Fuller, a renowned dancer known for her mesmerizing performances, Naranjo infuses his collection with a sense of fluidity and modernity. Knotting techniques and pannier-like shapes give a contemporary twist to classic silhouettes, while delicate overlays of colored tulle add a romantic and ethereal touch. Each piece in the collection is designed to be effortlessly wearable, reflecting Naranjo’s commitment to creating clothing that combines artistry with practicality.
