Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Robert F. Kennedy Sr., is currently in the hospital recovering from a stroke, as announced by the famous Kennedy family. The stroke occurred while Ethel was sleeping last Thursday, and she was immediately taken to the hospital for care. Joe Kennedy III released a statement on Tuesday confirming the news and stating that Ethel is surrounded by her family during this time.

The Kennedy family has requested thoughts and prayers for Ethel, who is said to be “comfortable” as she undergoes treatment. Despite the stroke, Ethel, who is 96 years old, had been enjoying a great summer and start to the fall. She spent quality time with her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, engaging in activities such as going out on the water and dining out.

Ethel Kennedy is a mother of 11 children, including Kathleen, Joe, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. She is also the sister-in-law of former President John F. Kennedy. Ethel’s life took a tragic turn in 1968 when her husband, RFK, was assassinated while running for president. She remained unmarried after his death and focused on raising their children.

In honor of RFK’s legacy, Ethel founded the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights nonprofit a year after his assassination. She has also been recognized for her contributions to society, receiving the Congressional Medal of Freedom in 2014 during Barack Obama’s presidency. This prestigious award is the nation’s highest honor for a civilian.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ethel Kennedy as she continues her recovery journey. Stay tuned for updates on her condition and well-being.
