Hailstones the size of golf balls are increasingly falling on Europe as the climate warms, leading to costly damage to vehicles and structures.

Very large hail, defined as hailstones with a diameter of 5 centimeters or more, is considered one of the most expensive forms of extreme weather. These giant hailstones have the ability to break windows, dent cars, and even penetrate building roofs. According to Brian Tang from the University of…, some of the most significant financial losses exceeding $1 billion have been linked to hailstorms producing such large hail.
