Los Angeles officials have issued evacuation warnings for residents in the Palisades and Eaton Fire burn scar areas in anticipation of an upcoming winter storm that is expected to bring heavy rainfall.
The Los Angeles Fire Department issued a bulletin on Saturday warning of the extreme danger of possible debris flow and mudslides in areas affected by recent wildfires.
The wildfires have left the land vulnerable to mudflows due to the burn-through of vegetation and soil layers.
The evacuation warning is in effect from 9 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, through 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, as reported by KTLA.
An interactive county-wide map lists evacuation locations and preparedness resources for residents to check if their area is affected.
Residents in specific burn scar zones such as Palisades Fire, Hurst Fire, Sunset Fire, and Eaton Fire are urged to evacuate to ensure their safety.
As part of storm preparedness, the LAFD is offering free ready-to-fill sandbags at all Neighborhood Fire Stations to help residents protect their properties.
Residents are advised to gather essential items, review evacuation plans, and stay informed about updates as the storm approaches.
The warning coincides with forecasts predicting heavy rain and strong winds in Southern California as the storm moves through the region.
