Usha Vance Opens Up About Her Hindu Upbringing and Marriage to JD Vance
In a revealing interview with Fox News in June 2024, Usha Vance shared insights into her upbringing in a Hindu household and her marriage to author and former Senate candidate JD Vance.
Usha spoke fondly of her parents’ Hindu faith, emphasizing how it shaped her upbringing and values. “My parents are Hindu, and that was one of the things that made them such good parents, that makes them really, very good people,” she said. “I’ve seen the power of that in my own life.”
Despite their different religious backgrounds, JD Vance expressed his desire for Usha to eventually embrace Christianity. Speaking at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi, JD shared his hopes for his wife’s spiritual journey. “Do I hope eventually that she is somehow moved by the same thing that I was moved in by church? Yeah, I honestly do,” he said. “Because I believe in the Christian gospel and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2014, have found a way to navigate their religious differences when it comes to their children. JD and Usha reportedly agreed to enroll their two eldest kids in a Catholic school, showcasing their commitment to finding common ground in their family life. “You figure this stuff out as a family, and you trust in God to have a plan,” JD shared.
Recently, Usha found herself at the center of divorce rumors when she was spotted without her wedding ring. However, she dismissed the speculation, stating, “I wear it when I wear it, and I don’t when I don’t… Sometimes I’m wearing it, and sometimes I’ve just been to the gym and showered, and I’m not wearing it.”
The Vance’s marriage exemplifies a blend of different faiths and a commitment to understanding and respecting each other’s beliefs. Their journey serves as a testament to the power of love and acceptance in overcoming religious differences.
