Wissam Ben Yedder, the former AS Monaco and France striker, has been handed a suspended two-year prison sentence for sexual assault while intoxicated. The verdict was delivered by Nice’s criminal court, where Ben Yedder was found guilty of drunk driving, sexual assault, and refusal to comply.

At 34 years old and currently without a club following his departure from Monaco after a five-year spell at Stade Louis II, Ben Yedder has been ordered to provide the victim with care and compensation. He was not present in court to hear his sentence, but he has been instructed to pay nearly $7000 for damages and legal costs. Additionally, he was fined an extra $5300 for his refusal to comply with authorities.

Furthermore, Ben Yedder’s driving license has been suspended for six months, although his father’s vehicle has since been returned to him. The prosecutor had initially recommended a two-year and six-month prison term for the player in October, including an 18-month probationary suspension.

This is not the only legal trouble Ben Yedder is facing, as he is currently under judicial supervision for alleged rape accusations from another woman at a party in the summer of 2023. The case is still under investigation, and Ben Yedder’s younger brother, Sabri Ben Yedder, has reportedly been charged with rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault.

In addition to these charges, Ben Yedder has also been found guilty of tax fraud in Spain. He is scheduled to stand trial again in late December for psychological violence against his wife in relation to their ongoing divorce proceedings, which began in May 2023.
