Adrian Peterson, the former NFL MVP, is facing legal trouble once again. There are warrants out for his arrest for failing to appear in court for two separate child support cases in Fort Bend County, Texas. While the sheriff’s department has not confirmed this information, Peterson’s publicist, Denise White, stated that there was a misunderstanding regarding his court appearances related to child support. He is actively working with his legal team to resolve the matter promptly.
Despite earning over $100 million throughout his career, Peterson has also faced financial challenges. Court records revealed that he had not paid the $8.3 million he owed to DeAngelo Vehicle Sales LLC, which he was ordered to pay three years prior. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a creditor $2.4 million in 2019 and a Minnesota bank the year before.
In 2014, Peterson missed most of the season after facing charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child. He pleaded no contest to assaulting his 4-year-old son with a tree branch. In 2022, he was arrested after an incident with his wife on a plane, but the charges were dropped as his wife clarified it was just an argument.
Throughout his career, Peterson rushed for 14,918 yards, leading the league in rushing three times. He is one of six running backs to achieve a 2,000-yard season and came within eight yards of breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season record in 2012. Peterson also holds the record for 296 rushing yards in a single game, achieved in his rookie season, with 253 of those yards coming in the second half.
Despite his on-field achievements, Peterson’s off-field troubles continue to follow him. It remains to be seen how he will navigate through these legal challenges and continue his legacy in the football world.
