The shocking incident involving the shooting of Jets cornerback Kris Boyd by an accused gunman has taken a new turn with revelations about the alleged shooter. Frederick Green, a 20-year-old drill rapper known as Tbo Zay, has been identified as the suspect in the case. In a disturbing music video posted on YouTube three months ago, Green boasted about guns, violence, and even referenced the BMW he used to flee the crime scene after the Nov. 16 attack.
The lyrics of his song “Mission” included lines such as “I get wavy…I go in the Beemer and I got accurate aim” and “Multiple scenes where my Glock got wavy.” The video also featured Green rapping about shooting like Tom Brady and waving a pistol. These lyrics now seem eerily prophetic in light of the shooting incident involving Boyd.
Green was arrested on Monday for allegedly shooting Boyd in the stomach outside a popular Midtown Asian-fusion restaurant. The football player was out with his teammates when a group started mocking their outfits, leading to a confrontation that escalated into violence. Green allegedly opened fire, hitting Boyd in the gut before fleeing the scene in a white BMW.
Following the shooting, Green reportedly cut off his long hair, disposed of his phone, and sought refuge in Buffalo at a friend’s apartment to evade the police. However, law enforcement authorities were able to track him down and apprehend him. He was charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, and is currently being held without bail.
Boyd, who was critically injured in the shooting, continues to face complications from the wounds, with a bullet fragment lodged in his lung. The incident has left him in a fragile state, requiring additional surgery and ongoing medical care.
Green has a history of prior arrests, including charges for unlawful possession of personal ID and criminal possession of a controlled substance. In his music video, he can be seen wearing a black face mask, riding a Citi Bike through the streets of New York City, and flashing gang signs.
The disturbing nature of the lyrics and imagery in Green’s music video now serve as a chilling backdrop to the violent incident involving Kris Boyd. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with authorities working to ensure that justice is served in this case.
