Despite having government-backed loans and eligibility to avoid paying property taxes, nonprofit-managed housing consistently has higher violation counts, leading to inefficiencies in building management. According to Burgos, even with good intentions and no profit motive, these organizations struggle to maintain their properties effectively.

Workforce Housing Group did not respond to inquiries, but the involvement of Dina Levy in the sale of the Sedgwick Avenue building to a nonprofit group was defended by HPD. Agency spokesperson Matt Rauschenbach stated that Levy worked with tenants to prevent the building from being purchased by a predatory buyer, keeping it affordable. The building is now undergoing an $8 million preservation renovation to ensure safe and affordable housing for its residents.
