EXCLUSIVE: Despairing King Charles 'Wishes Prince Andrew and Fergie Would Just Be Invisible' — 'He Wants Them to Agree to Be Out of Sight, Out of Mind'

Reports suggest that Charles has advised his aides to encourage Andrew and Sarah to adopt a “out of sight, out of mind” strategy during royal functions, urging them to refrain from taking center stage at events or family gatherings.

“While the king understands that Andrew will always remain family and that Sarah has her role, his preference leans towards them remaining in the background. If they do appear, he insists they keep a low profile to avoid drawing attention to themselves. Ideally, they would simply fade from view,” shared a palace insider.

Another source indicated, “While Charles does not wish to shame them, his patience is running thin. The recurring controversies keep resurfacing, impacting the monarchy’s image. He believes that encouraging Andrew and Sarah to withdraw from public view is the best way to allow the criticism to eventually subside.”

The Duke, now 65, was relieved of his royal duties in 2019 after disastrous media coverage regarding his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. He later settled with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual misconduct at the age of 17—allegations he has persistently denied.

Recently, the Duchess, 65, has faced backlash for previously describing Epstein in a 2011 email as a “steadfast, generous, and supreme friend.”

The King’s approach has found support from Prince William, 43, who has consistently held a stern perspective regarding his uncle.

Recently, he was captured on camera appearing to sidestep Andrew on the steps of Westminster Cathedral during the Duchess of Kent’s funeral.

A royal aide commented, “William has long viewed Andrew as a risk to the family’s reputation; he firmly believes that the monarchy cannot withstand any further scandals, and he fully endorses his father’s decision to keep both Andrew and Sarah at bay.”

Last year, both Andrew and Sarah abstained from attending the annual family Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace, with palace officials recommending their absence. Sarah was noted for persuading Andrew to withdraw, a decision for which Charles reportedly expressed gratitude.

Her absence was particularly striking as she had started to be reintegrated into royal events following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. In December 2023, she participated in the Christmas Day church walk with the family for the first time in many years, and she also received an invitation to Balmoral during the summer.

Sarah has spoken highly of King Charles in interviews and was entrusted with the late Queen’s corgis. However, recent incidents have led several charities to sever ties with her, further intensifying scrutiny on the monarchy.

Despite their separation in 1992 and subsequent divorce in 1996, she has remained a steadfast supporter of Andrew, asserting in interviews, “He’s a kind, good man, and the focus should shift away from him to allow him to rebuild his life.”
