Pei Chung, the accused Brooklyn serial dine-and-dash diva, is facing a tumultuous legal battle as her lawyer has requested a psychological evaluation for her. This comes in the wake of her latest arrest for allegedly stealing $149 worth of food and refusing to pay at the trendy Mexican restaurant, Mole Bar and Grill in Williamsburg. Chung, a 34-year-old designer-loving influencer, has had the police called on her at least 10 times in the past month for similar incidents.
During her latest arraignment, Chung’s lawyer expressed concerns about her well-being, stating that she seemed confused about the situation. The lawyer requested that Chung be released on supervised release to allow her to see a doctor on her own. However, the judge noted that Chung had previously left arraignments without speaking to supervised release, leading to a warrant being issued.
The Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney, Jordan Rossman, recommended that Chung be held on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond due to her repeated offenses of dining and dashing. Despite previous releases on supervised release, Chung continued to commit the same crimes. The judge ultimately issued an order of protection for the manager of the restaurant where Chung allegedly scammed and set her bail at $4,500 cash.
Chung’s series of arrests began in late October, with restaurants like Francie, Lavender Lake, Motorino, and Peter Luger accusing her of posing as a food influencer to receive free meals before leaving without paying. The manager at Peter Luger even claimed that Chung had offered sexual favors in exchange for a free meal. Other targeted restaurants reported that Chung tried to leverage her food blog to score complimentary meals.
Known for flaunting luxury brands like Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Hermes on Instagram, Chung often posted about her dining experiences on her page and ran a mediocre food blog. She is expected to appear in court again on Wednesday to face the charges against her.
The case of Pei Chung highlights the consequences of fraudulent behavior and the importance of addressing potential underlying mental health issues. As the legal proceedings continue, the outcome for the accused dine-and-dash diva remains uncertain.
