Officer Thomas Bucholz Named Midtown South Precinct’s “Officer of the Year”
New York City’s Midtown South Precinct recently honored Officer Thomas Bucholz as their “Officer of the Year” for his outstanding work in apprehending a dangerous criminal. The prestigious award was presented to Bucholz at the Safe City Safe Streets Luncheon, where he was joined by his colleagues and loved ones, including his two-month-old daughter.
Bucholz, a dedicated member of the NYPD for nearly a decade, expressed his gratitude for the recognition but emphasized that the honor belongs to all the officers who work tirelessly to serve the community. He credited his fellow officers for their dedication to ensuring the safety of Midtown residents, business owners, and tourists.
The 30-year-old officer’s remarkable achievement that led to this prestigious award involved apprehending a criminal who had fled the scene of a serious crash in September. The perpetrator was found in possession of a significant amount of drugs and weapons, including a defaced assault rifle and a loaded handgun.
Bucholz, who has always aspired to be an NYPD officer since his days as a student in Long Island, has dedicated his entire nine-year career to serving in Midtown South. Despite his recent success, he remains focused on his next goal of becoming an NYPD detective.
Since welcoming his daughter Scarlett with his wife Meghan, Bucholz has set his sights on furthering his career within the police force. He expressed his ambition to continue striving for excellence and eventually achieve his dream of becoming a detective.
In addition to Bucholz, several other Manhattan cops from different precincts were also honored at the luncheon for their exceptional service to the community. The NYPD recognized Jennifer Paolino, Christian Orellana, and Michael Dejesus as “Officers of the Year” for their respective precincts.
The dedication and bravery displayed by Officer Bucholz and his fellow honorees serve as a testament to the commitment of the NYPD in ensuring the safety and well-being of all New Yorkers. Their exemplary work is a testament to the professionalism and dedication of the men and women in blue who serve and protect the city every day.
