Exclusive Interview with President Trump on Venezuela Situation
In an exclusive interview with The Post, President Trump clarified that US troops will not be stationed in Venezuela as long as ousted leader Nicolás Maduro’s vice president, Delcy Rodriguez, complies with US demands following a daring US raid that captured Maduro.
During a press conference, Trump emphasized that the US is committed to overseeing a democratic transition in Venezuela but reiterated that US troops will not be actively running the country.
When asked about the possibility of US troops on the ground, Trump stated, “No, if Maduro’s vice president does what we want, we won’t have to do that.”
Trump also mentioned that the US is prepared for any scenario, hinting at a potential second wave of action in Venezuela.
Regarding Cuba, Trump ruled out additional military action against the country, stating that Cuba’s reliance on Venezuela for support has backfired and that Cuba is currently facing economic challenges.
Trump highlighted the consequences faced by Cubans who were protecting Maduro, stating that many lost their lives in the recent events.
