These veterans are really enjoying life!
The Veterans of Foreign Wars has teamed up with a beverage company in Florida to offer cannabis-infused beverages to its 1.4 million members nationwide.
This exciting collaboration with Torch Drinks will enable the prominent veterans organization to distribute low-dose spiked seltzers at its posts across the country later this year, wherever permitted.
A portion of the revenue from sales at VFW posts will support financially struggling veterans.
These THC-infused drinks are made with hemp-derived Delta-9 THC, which produces psychoactive effects that create a feeling of being “high.”
The term hemp-derived pertains to the concentration of THC. Hemp is defined legally as cannabis containing less than 0.3% THC.
“The VFW’s primary objective is to guarantee veterans and their families receive the necessary care, benefits, and support they deserve,” remarked VFW National Commander Carol Whitmore regarding this initiative.
“Partnering with Torch enables us to generate funds for essential programs while discovering innovative ways to serve a changing community of veterans.”
A study published in the Journal of Affective Disorders in December found that cannabis usage “was linked with significant decreases in anxiety and depression.”
Nonetheless, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) cautions that cannabis consumption carries health risks, including heightened chances of stroke and heart disease, and connections to mental health challenges like social anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia.
“Customers report that Torch products encourage relaxation and rejuvenation, which is why we aspire to expand access to veterans and others who may appreciate it. We are dedicated to supporting those who serve the United States while continuing research and discussion on innovative health approaches,” expressed Collin Kerrigan, co-founder of Torch Beverage Company.
This announcement follows President Trump’s recent statement highlighting the medical advantages of CBD for seniors.
CBD, like THC, is another cannabinoid found in cannabis plants, but it does not provide any psychoactive effects.
A total of twenty-seven states will permit Torch drinks at their VFW locations.
