Maine College of Art & Design (MECA&D) is thrilled to announce the opportunity for artists to apply for a full-tuition scholarship for the Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art (MFA) program. The deadline to apply is January 18, 2026, so don’t miss out on this incredible chance to further your artistic career.

The MFA program at MECA&D takes a unique interdisciplinary approach that encourages students to push the boundaries of traditional academic disciplines, expand their art practice, and nurture their intellectual curiosity. With a six-term curriculum that focuses on studio practice, individual research, and critical analysis, students are provided with a dynamic and supportive learning environment to explore and develop their artistic vision.

One of the standout features of the MFA program at MECA&D is the option to choose between Full and Low Residency. The Full Residency option offers students 24/7 access to private studios and fabrication facilities, allowing them to collaborate with peers and faculty in a creative environment. On the other hand, the Low Residency option provides students with the flexibility to work from any location in the world while still benefiting from intensive on-campus instruction during designated periods.

Each summer, all MFA students come together in Portland, Maine, for an eight-week Summer Intensive program. These intensives serve as a platform for community-building, exchange, and engagement with renowned faculty, visiting artists, and critics. Students have the opportunity to attend public lectures, receive studio visits, and participate in group activities and discussions to enhance their artistic practice.

If you’re interested in applying for the MFA program at MECA&D, mark your calendars for the key dates:
– Full-Tuition Scholarship Deadline: January 18, 2026
– Priority Acceptance Deadline: February 22, 2026
– Program Start Date: June 15, 2026
