Macay Oglesby Maintains Innocence in Murder Case
Despite being convicted of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and aggravated battery in June, Macay Oglesby, 53, continues to maintain her innocence in the death of her boyfriend, Richard “Rick” Young, the former Maquon Police Department chief. Oglesby claims that she was held against her will for decades until Young’s death on November 1, 2021.
Authorities arrested Oglesby in October 2022 after investigating a foul odor coming from a storage facility in Maquon, Illinois. Initially, Oglesby attributed the smell to a dead opossum inside the unit, but upon further inspection, Young’s decomposed remains were found inside a large box.
During a recent hearing, Oglesby stated, “My allocution today will have to take a slightly different path because I respectfully disagree with the court’s findings, and I will not be referencing a murder that did not happen. He didn’t go into that box immediately. I put him back to bed and continued to talk to him for three days.”
Despite the evidence against her, Oglesby remains steadfast in her belief that she did not harm Young. The case has captivated the small town of Maquon, with many questioning the truth behind Oglesby’s claims of innocence. The investigation into Young’s death continues, as authorities work to uncover the full extent of what transpired between the couple.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the community awaits answers and justice for Rick Young. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing case.
