Ground Stop at Newark Liberty International Airport
A ground stop was implemented at Newark Liberty International Airport on Wednesday afternoon due to staffing issues stemming from the ongoing government shutdown.
According to NBC4, the Federal Aviation Administration suspended flights at the major East Coast hub at 3 p.m. local time, with the stoppage scheduled to last until 4:15 p.m.
After the ground stop was lifted, a ground delay was put in place until 11 p.m., as per an FAA advisory. Passengers should anticipate flight delays averaging 40 minutes.
