President Trump delivered a speech at the Justice Department filled with falsehoods and grievances, veering off-script to attack lawyers and prosecutors and criticize the investigations into him. The speech covered a range of topics including immigration, crime, and even the price of eggs. Let’s fact-check some of the key points raised in his address.

Legal Troubles:
Trump claimed that the intelligence and law enforcement agencies weaponized their powers to thwart the will of the American people. He also alleged that they spied on his campaign, launched hoaxes, broke the law, and persecuted his family and supporters. However, these claims lack evidence. Investigations into Trump and his associates occurred across multiple administrations and involved various criminal cases. While there were investigations into Russian ties to the Trump campaign, no evidence supports the notion of a vast conspiracy against him.

2020 Election:
Trump falsely claimed that the elections were rigged. Despite his repeated claims, there is overwhelming evidence that the 2020 election was fair and that Joe Biden won legitimately.

Biden and Classified Documents:
Trump suggested that Biden was found guilty of retaining and disclosing classified material, but no criminal charges were warranted in the case. The special counsel found no evidence to establish Biden’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Jan. 6 Capitol Attack:
Trump pardoned individuals charged in connection with the Capitol attack, portraying them as martyrs. However, many of those pardoned had committed violent crimes and threatened law enforcement officials.

Parents, Anti-Abortion Activists, and Catholics:
Trump claimed that the Biden administration targeted parents, anti-abortion activists, and Catholics. These claims stemmed from efforts to track threats against school boards and a leaked memo warning of potential extremism among traditionalist Catholics. The memo was later withdrawn, and there is no evidence of widespread persecution of Catholics.

Immigration and Crime:
Trump boasted about achieving record low illegal border crossings, but failed to acknowledge the role of previous agreements in reducing crossings. He also made unsubstantiated claims about crime rates under the Biden administration.

Egg Prices:
Trump mentioned a significant drop in egg prices, attributing it to recent developments. While wholesale egg prices have decreased, retail prices may not reflect this change immediately.

In conclusion, Trump’s speech was filled with inaccuracies and misleading claims. It is essential to fact-check and verify information before accepting it as truth.
