A baby’s 100th day is a significant milestone in Korean culture, symbolizing the infant’s presence, growth, and prosperity. Lesley Younghee Kim was approaching this milestone with joy and anticipation this summer.

Lesley’s mother, Seorin Kim, 44, diligently shared updates and photos of her daughter’s progress with her parents in California, eagerly preparing for the 100-day celebration. However, tragedy struck as Lesley and her mother passed away on July 29.

Seorin’s husband, Nicholas Myklebust, 45, a professor at Regis University, is facing charges of first-degree murder in connection with Seorin’s death. While not charged with Lesley’s death, the possibility remains open.

The couple had previously experienced the loss of their first child, Bear Jiyong Myklebust, who passed away at nine days old in 2021.

Seorin’s parents, undeterred by the tragic turn of events, traveled to Colorado for a memorial instead of the anticipated celebration.

Remembering Seorin Kim

Seorin was known for her meticulous and methodical nature, evident in her organized home and detailed planning. She had carefully prepared for Lesley’s future, purchasing clothes ahead for her growth into toddlerhood.

Immigrating to the U.S. from Korea at a young age, Seorin pursued a career as a forensic accountant with the FBI in Denver, where she was highly respected for her dedication and integrity.

Besides her professional accomplishments, Seorin had a passion for music and was an aspiring musician. She dedicated her free time to playing instruments, composing music, and sharing her performances on platforms like YouTube.

Her family recalls her love for animals, her meticulous organization skills, and her unwavering commitment to her family.

A Tragic Turn of Events

The circumstances surrounding Seorin and Lesley’s deaths remain shrouded in mystery. Myklebust, who had been with Seorin for 25 years, is facing serious charges in connection with Seorin’s passing.

Authorities found discrepancies in Myklebust’s account of events leading to Seorin’s death, leading to suspicion and subsequent charges. The investigation into Lesley’s death is ongoing, awaiting a ruling on the cause and manner of her passing.

Seorin’s parents grapple with the incomprehensible loss, struggling to make sense of the tragedy that has befallen their family.

As they navigate the aftermath of the devastating events, they find solace in memories of Seorin’s passion for music and meticulous nature, keeping her legacy alive through her cherished possessions.

The family’s quest for answers continues as they come to terms with the unimaginable loss of Seorin and Lesley, cherishing the memories of a life cut short too soon.
