The MaGee family is gearing up to celebrate Thanksgiving in a unique way this year. Instead of the usual turkey dinner at home, they will be spending the holiday by the side of their beloved daughter and sister, Bethany MaGee, who is currently recovering in the hospital from severe burns covering more than 60% of her body. Bethany, described as a kind, caring, and imaginative individual, was the victim of a horrifying attack on a CTA train in Chicago. Lawrence Reed, a career criminal with a staggering 72 arrests to his name, set her on fire by dousing her with gasoline during the train ride.

Despite the unimaginable tragedy that has befallen their family, the MaGee’s are choosing to focus on the spirit of Thanksgiving and express gratitude for the opportunity to be with Bethany during this challenging time. They have highlighted the excellent care she is receiving from her medical team and the support they have received from the community. While most of Bethany’s medical expenses are covered by insurance and a victims’ fund, the family has set up a GoFundMe page to help alleviate any financial burdens that may arise during her recovery.

President Trump also weighed in on the horrific incident, condemning the justice system that allowed a repeat offender like Reed to roam free and commit such a heinous act. He expressed his concern for the rising crime rates in Chicago and vowed to take action to make the city safer for its residents.

As Bethany continues her recovery journey, surrounded by the love and support of her family and community, the MaGee’s are hopeful for a brighter future ahead. Their Thanksgiving celebration may look different this year, but the spirit of togetherness and resilience shines through as they navigate this challenging time with grace and strength.
