Cinemoda Club Dinner: A Fusion of Fashion and Film in Milan
Rain may have graced Milan on this evening, but it certainly couldn’t dampen the spirits of the guests gathered at the intimate launch of Cinemoda Club. Hosted by none other than Anna Wintour and François-Henri Pinault, the dinner celebrated the inaugural film series merging the realms of fashion and cinema, orchestrated by Vogue Italia in collaboration with Kering. Over three thrilling days, screenings will unfold at various iconic venues across the city including Cinema Arlecchino, Cinema Mexico, and Cinema Palestrina, showcasing a curated selection of 36 films that delve deep into the interconnected worlds of fashion and film.
The ambiance of the setting was both warm and familial, reminiscent of Demna’s imagined “Gucci La Famiglia.” On this elegant night, Valeria Golino stole the spotlight as the evening’s radiant hostess, draped in dramatic all-black attire accentuated by a striking sculptural neckline. “Cinemoda Club is a first, a risky and subversive experiment,” Golino shared with the assembled guests against a backdrop of saffron risotto and exquisite desserts from Da Vittorio, beautifully complemented by floral arrangements from Tearose and delicate paper sculptures created by Libribianchi. In a charming moment, she acknowledged actress Julianne Moore, who was spotted across the room with her husband Bart Freundlich, playfully apologizing for her Italian-focused conversation.
As conversations flowed between bites, English soon replaced Italian as the evening’s lingua franca. Anna Wintour expressed her delight in welcoming attendees to this remarkable initiative that beautifully intertwines “three of my favorite things: cinema, fashion, and impeccable organization.” Her words resonated through the room, drawing a laugh as she gestured toward Louisa Jacobson, the daughter of Meryl Streep, in reference to the The Devil Wears Prada screening scheduled for later in the festival.
In the spirit of a quintessential Milanese salon, discussions sprouted between friends and colleagues. Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini, the creative minds behind The Attico, shared insights about their upcoming short film with Luisa Ranieri. Meanwhile, designer Luca Magliano reflected on his own CineMagliano project introduced earlier in June. The room was a dazzling display of haute couture, as Mariacarla Boscono floated in wearing Gucci while Donatella Versace exchanged pleasantries with Grigor Dimitrov. A striking number of Bottega Veneta clutches dominated the scene, adding to the evening’s stylish tableau.
Among the sparkling accessories that captivated guests were Greta Ferro’s daring furry stilettos—an audacious choice given the drizzly backdrop—and Matilda De Angelis’s stunning silver ear cuff that defied gravity.
In its essence, the Cinemoda Club Dinner served as a captivating intersection of fashion and cinema, marrying the two worlds in a way that only Milan can. The event’s intimate charm and star-studded gathering left attendees buzzing with excitement for the cinematic journey ahead.
As we bask in the glow of this unique celebration, one thing is clear: the partnership between Vogue Italia and Kering’s Cinemoda Club is destined to redefine the relationship between fashion and film, setting the stage for an extraordinary series of artistic expression.
