A tragic incident occurred on Monday morning on Interstate 25 near Fort Collins, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The Colorado Department of Transportation confirmed that the interstate had to be shut down for several hours following the fatal crash.
According to Sgt. Patrick Rice of the Colorado State Patrol, the crash took place on northbound I-25 at Prospect Road around 4:15 a.m. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Chevrolet Silverado, with the driver sustaining minor injuries. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
The closure of the interstate between Colorado 68 and Exit 268 for Prospect Road was initiated at 4:30 a.m. as per CDOT officials. As of 9 a.m., northbound I-25 remained closed with no estimated time for reopening provided.
Motorists heading northbound were facing delays of up to 25 minutes around 9 a.m., according to CDOT. The situation is still developing, and more updates will follow.
