Gunman Sought in Fatal Shooting of Father and Son at Little Village Jewelry Store
Chicago police are on the lookout for a gunman who tragically shot and killed a father and son during a robbery at a jewelry store in Little Village on Saturday evening. Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a substantial reward of up to $10,000 for any valuable information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
Details of the Incident
The incident unfolded on the 3800 block of West 26th Street at approximately 5:49 p.m., prompting multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire and victims lying on the ground. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered two men, aged 63 and 25, with critical injuries. Despite being rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, both victims were unfortunately pronounced dead.
According to investigators, the tragedy began when a male suspect entered the family-owned jewelry store, brandishing a firearm and demanding valuables. Following the robbery, a confrontation ensued outside the establishment between the perpetrator and the victims, resulting in the fatal shooting.
The assailant fired multiple rounds, striking both men before fleeing the scene in a white SUV heading south on Springfield Avenue, as stated by CPD officials. Approximately a dozen shell casings and stolen jewelry were found at the crime scene, providing crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Reward for Information
In a statement issued by Cook County Crime Stoppers Executive Director Paul Rutherford, the incident was condemned as a “senseless act of violence” that claimed the lives of two hardworking individuals. An appeal was made to the public to come forward with any details that could assist in solving the case, emphasizing the significance of even the smallest piece of information.
Crime Stoppers has announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the perpetrator.
