The assailant responsible for the murder of a 6-year-old boy has been granted parole after serving merely half of his sentence, prompting a grave warning from the victim’s father.
Ronald Exantus, 42, fatally attacked the Tipton family while they were asleep in their Versailles, Kentucky home on December 7, 2015. During this horrific incident, he directed most of his violence towards young Logan, inflicting multiple stab wounds to the child’s head with a kitchen knife.
Dean Tipton, Logan’s father, recounted his confrontation with the intruder, stating that he was also stabbed and hurled across the room, as reported by WLKY.
Daughter Dakota recounted the nightmare, saying, “He stabbed me in the back. And then stomped on my head.”
She recalled waking up in a different part of the room and witnessing the horrific scene as Logan was being attacked, hearing him scream.
Although he was charged with murder, a jury deemed Exantus not guilty by reason of insanity, resulting in a 20-year sentence for assault, according to WLKY.
Due to good behavior and educational credits, he secured early release on parole on October 1, after spending only eight years in prison. His parole is scheduled to end on June 18, 2026, as reported by the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
Dean Tipton expressed his deep frustration over the early release and vowed to seek revenge if he encounters Exantus again.
Tipton shared that Exantus threatened to kill the entire family, leading him to take additional precautions to protect his children. “I will not lose another one,” he emphasized, as reported by local outlet Fox56.
He added, “I’ve had discussions with God. I’m candid about it—I told the court that if I ever cross paths with him, I will kill him. I mean it.”
Logan’s mother, Heather Tipton, also expressed her shock at the rapid release of the man who took her son’s life while he slept, stating, “It’s maddening that a six-year-old was killed in his sleep, and someone serves just ten years for it, having effectively only served time for assault.”
