An Ohio father took matters into his own hands after discovering his daughter had been sexually assaulted. However, his actions have led to legal repercussions.
According to WBNS, Diego Montoya Gonzalez was shot by the father of an 11-year-old girl at their Grove City home. This occurred after the girl’s mother found video footage of her being raped.
The father, attempting to lure Montoya Gonzalez back to their home, posed as his daughter on TikTok. Upon Montoya Gonzalez’s arrival, the father shot him twice, later claiming self-defense as he believed Montoya Gonzalez was reaching for a gun.
Despite his intentions to protect his daughter, the father now faces legal challenges. He has been charged with felonious assault, and his bond has been set at $100,000, as reported by WBNS.
This decision has sparked outrage among many, who view the father’s actions as a protective measure for his child.
In efforts to protect the child’s privacy, both WBNS and have refrained from disclosing the father’s identity.
Further investigation into Montoya Gonzalez’s phone revealed additional disturbing content, including videos of him abusing other children. One video even depicted an infant or toddler being assaulted.
Montoya Gonzalez appeared in Franklin County Common Pleas Court facing multiple charges, including rape, pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, and obstructing official business. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
In a controversial decision, Montoya Gonzalez’s bond was set at $70,000, which included a $20,000 recognizance bond and a $50,000 cash/surety bond. This amount is lower than the bond set for the victim’s father.
If released, Montoya Gonzalez is required to stay away from the victim’s family and can only access the internet for work purposes, as reported by WBNS. The enforceability of this order remains uncertain.
