A Disservice to Law Enforcement, He Claims

FBI Director Kash Patel recently stirred controversy by labeling Tupac‘s godmother a terrorist, asserting that grieving her passing is a direct affront to law enforcement across the nation.
In a recent post on X, Patel referred to the late Assata Shakur, also known by her birth name, Joanne Chesimard, claiming she never fought for justice.
Patel charged that Shakur was responsible for the murder of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster before seeking refuge in Cuba, insisting her public remembrance should mirror the FBI’s perspective of her as a “terrorist.”
He vehemently concluded, “To mourn her is to spit in the face of every officer who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.”
As reported recently, Assata’s daughter disclosed that she passed away in Cuba, with the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirming her death from health complications due to advanced age.
Shakur was convicted of Foerster’s murder in 1977 and sentenced to life imprisonment, but she escaped in 1979, aided by the Black Liberation Movement, ultimately finding asylum in Cuba under Fidel Castro.
It appears Director Patel is resolutely intent on ensuring Assata’s criminal history remains in the public spotlight, even if it means overshadowing her ties to an iconic figure.
