FDNY Firefighter Dies Battling Brooklyn Blaze

An FDNY firefighter tragically lost his life while fighting a five-alarm fire in Brooklyn on Saturday night, according to officials.

Firefighter Patrick Brady was killed while responding to a blaze that broke out in a 6-story apartment building on Kings Highway in Brownsville. Mayor Eric Adams and fire officials announced the heartbreaking news at a press conference held late Saturday at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn.

Mayor Adams paid tribute to Brady, stating, “He gave his life protecting this city that he loves, and there is no sacrifice more selfless than the actions that took place this evening.”

Brady’s death marks the second line-of-duty loss for the FDNY in just two weeks, according to fire officials.

No further details were disclosed regarding the fire or the circumstances surrounding Brady’s death. Brady, who hailed from a family of firefighters, was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he later passed away.

First Deputy Fire Commissioner Mark Guerra expressed his condolences, saying, “Firefighter Brady died at a fire in Brownsville, Brooklyn, upholding the greatest traditions of the FDNY.”

The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
