Partnering with Tūhura Otago Museum, the Otago Heritage Bus Society is offering Christmas light tours aboard a variety of classic vehicles.
President Richard Brownlie shared that the transport options include iconic “bendy buses” from Auckland and 1970s Leylands, many of which have historical ties to Dunedin.
Among the heritage fleet is a 1968 Bedford VAM, customized by Midland Motorbodies of Christchurch, featuring unique windows that curve up into the roof.
“The roof was actually constructed separately and then attached to the bus. Originally a coach bus, it was also used for school runs,” Brownlie explained.
The enchanting journey begins at the H.D. Skinner Annex within Tūhura Otago Museum, where guests can savor hot chocolate and enjoy seasonal music before departing from the Albany St bus stop.
These special tours will be available from Thursday, December 18, to Sunday, December 21, with departure times at 8:30pm. Secure your spot by booking at otagomuseum.nz
