Fighter Jets Scrambled to Intercept Civilian Aircraft in Restricted Airspace
Fighter jets were scrambled to intercept a civilian aircraft on Sunday after it entered restricted airspace over Trump’s Bedminster retreat. The pilot flew into a temporary flight restriction (TFR) zone at about 12:50 p.m. ET, according to a statement from NORAD.
The civilian aircraft was escorted out of the area by NORAD aircraft after using flares to draw the pilot’s attention. NORAD reported that this was the second intercept of the day, with five unauthorized incursions over the weekend.
NORAD emphasized the use of flares for safety and to alert the pilot. Flares burn out quickly and completely, posing no danger to those on the ground when dispersed. Private pilots are advised to check FAA NOTAMs before flight.

President Trump was at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster during the incident and is expected to return to the White House later on Sunday.
