In an unexpected turn of events, renowned figure skater Alysa Liu has decided to part ways with her latest routine, originally set to the track of D4vd, following controversy surrounding the tragic case of Celeste Rivas‘ death.
The 2022 Olympian addressed her audience Wednesday, stating that her plans for the 2025-26 skating season would be put on indefinite hold “in light of recent events.”
In a dramatic display earlier this month, Liu showcased her short program at the Lombardia Trophy in Italy, beautifully choreographed to D4vd and Laufey‘s “This Is How It Feels.”
Remarkably, she clinched victory in the short program at this very competition.
Liu expressed her commitment to pursuing a new direction that resonates with her personal values and ethos.
“I will begin the creative process of developing a new routine, but I won’t be rushing it,” she indicated.
“In the meantime, some of you may see familiar programs as I explore new creative avenues. I truly appreciate your continued support!”
D4vd, the controversial figure, has been under intense media scrutiny following the discovery of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas found dead in a Tesla associated with him. While his home has been searched, he has not been officially named a suspect.
