Authorities are relieved that no injuries were reported after a trailer caused chaos on a Dunedin motorway. The incident took place on the Caversham Bypass around 2:30 pm yesterday.
A 21-year-old driver was traveling at the speed limit when his trailer started swaying, leading to the building materials on it falling off. Despite being secured, the movement of the trailer caused the materials to come loose.
This resulted in the trailer fishtailing and jack-knifing the ute, according to Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen from Dunedin. Thankfully, no one else was harmed or involved in the incident.
There was a significant amount of debris left on the road, prompting the need for cleanup. Dinnissen emphasized the importance of ensuring that vehicles are properly rated for weight and that trailers are equipped with brakes.
