Florida Democrat Matthew Inman Arrested on Child Porn Charges
Democratic Delegate and prominent gay activist Matthew Inman, 39, has been arrested after sending child pornography to an undercover police officer. Inman, who serves as the President of the Rainbow Democrats, a nonprofit organization that promotes unity within the LGBTQ+ community and the Democratic Party, was previously the Treasurer of the Orange County Democratic Party.
Inman, a vocal anti-Trump supporter and Kamala Harris advocate, attended the 2024 DNC convention where he proudly announced his support for Harris as a Congressional District 9 Party Delegate. However, his political activism has now been overshadowed by disturbing allegations of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) possession and distribution.
According to the U.S. District Attorney’s office, Inman received and saved several videos depicting adults sexually assaulting young children between August and October 2024. He allegedly sent these videos to an undercover officer posing as the father of a nine-year-old boy, whom Inman expressed interest in sexually assaulting.
During a search of his home, Inman attempted to delete the evidence from his phone and hide in the attic. He has been charged with transportation of child sex abuse material, a offense that carries a minimum penalty of 5 years in federal prison and a maximum of 20 years if found guilty.
The arrest and criminal complaint against Inman were announced by United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg, stating that the case was investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard Varadan. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
