Florida Man Caught with Meth in Underwear During Traffic Stop
A heavily tattooed Florida man, Thomas Carpenter, found himself in hot water after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine hidden in his underpants. The incident occurred on March 18 when deputies pulled Carpenter over for a suspected traffic violation. What they found inside his car shocked them – drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and a possible stash of meth.
Carpenter, accompanied by two children and a female passenger, appeared dazed and struggled to stay awake during the encounter with law enforcement. The female passenger admitted to smoking marijuana in the car just before they were stopped, but neither had a medical marijuana card.
While the woman was released, Carpenter was arrested and taken to the Putnam County Jail. A mugshot of him shows his face covered in tattoos, adding to the intrigue of the situation. During a strip search at the station, deputies uncovered 11 small bags of methamphetamine concealed in the front of Carpenter’s underwear, totaling about 322.1 grams.
Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, Carpenter boldly declared to the officers that “there’s nothing wrong with drugs.” However, he was charged with multiple drug-related offenses, including amphetamine trafficking, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of controlled substances without a prescription, and smuggling contraband into a detention facility.
Interestingly, Carpenter’s criminal history didn’t start with this drug bust. He had recently been released from prison after serving a three-year sentence for charges such as battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, and fleeing from the police.
In light of the presence of children in Carpenter’s car during the arrest, authorities notified the Department of Children and Families about the incident. This latest brush with the law serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in illegal activities, especially with innocent bystanders involved.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office handled the case with efficiency and professionalism, ensuring that Carpenter faced the full extent of the law for his actions. As the legal proceedings unfold, it remains to be seen what the future holds for this Florida man with a penchant for trouble.
