A shocking incident took place at a music festival in Ponce De Leon, Florida, where a crazed man named James Anderson attacked a Holmes County Sheriff’s deputy by biting off a chunk of flesh from the officer’s skull. This horrific incident occurred on May 5, 2024, and Anderson was sentenced to six years in prison for his drug-induced assault.
The attack left the deputy with a gruesome injury, as Anderson ripped off a piece of scalp, exposing the officer’s skull. The photos of the victim’s head injury are stomach-churning, showing a gaping hole in the back of his bloody head. Chief Prosecutor Jacob Cook emphasized that violence against law enforcement officers will not be tolerated, and Anderson will face the consequences of his actions behind bars.
Anderson, who was under the influence of PCP, LSD, ketamine, mushrooms, and ecstasy at the time of the attack, was working as a volunteer at the music and arts festival. He attempted to grab the deputy’s gun from his holster before viciously biting his head. Despite being tasered, Anderson continued to resist arrest and had to be restrained by multiple officers.
After the attack, Anderson complained about having hair stuck in his teeth, showcasing the disturbing nature of his behavior. The deputy, who sustained significant scarring from the assault, has since recovered and returned to duty. Anderson pleaded guilty to aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and will serve six years in prison followed by ten years of felony probation upon his release.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers and the severe consequences of violent actions against them. The swift justice served in this case sends a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated in the community.
