A viral video capturing the moment a sheriff’s deputy in Florida mistakenly shot his colleague in the back with a Taser has surfaced, showcasing a painful mishap.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were attempting to apprehend a suspect, Kheilan Haynes, following a traffic stop on Saturday night when Haynes began to resist.
The footage depicts two deputies grappling with a man on the ground beside a Jeep. One deputy steps back, draws his Taser, and fires, inadvertently hitting his partner in the backside. The shock causes the officer to stiffen and collapse, allowing the suspect to flee.
According to the arrest report obtained by TMZ, Sergeant T. Robinson admitted to inadvertently Tasering his colleague, Officer Z.J. Poole.
Robinson’s initial Taser deployment struck Haynes, but failed to incapacitate him. A second attempt missed Haynes and hit Poole, successfully subduing the suspect.
Law enforcement reports indicate that Haynes refused to comply with orders during the arrest, prompting Robinson to utilize the Taser.
JSO revealed that Haynes was cited for running a red light, and after fleeing on foot, was apprehended by deputies who used a Taser to incapacitate him once more.
Haynes now faces charges including felony drug possession for fentanyl, and misdemeanors for resisting an officer without violence and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
