A shocking incident unfolded in Florida where a woman allegedly allowed her newborn baby to drown in a toilet before going on to perform in a local theater show. Anne Mae Demegillo reportedly disposed of the baby’s body in a duffel bag in her closet and then went about her day as if nothing had happened.

Demegillo, who has been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child, was arrested and is currently in custody at the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Jail. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Barile expressed disbelief at the woman’s lack of concern for her own child.

Chief Deputy Joe Barile expressed his shock at the crime.

Despite the gravity of her actions, Demegillo appeared unusually calm during police interviews and claimed she was unaware of her pregnancy until giving birth. Barile noted the lack of remorse in her demeanor and the difficulty in understanding her behavior.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are yet to speak to Demegillo’s father. Barile mentioned that while Demegillo vaguely grasped the wrongness of her actions, there was no indication of involvement from any other parties in the tragic event.
