Food influencer Nathan Aguilera, also known as @foodieflashpacker, is currently recovering from a hit-and-run accident that left him with severe injuries. The incident occurred in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, while Aguilera was walking back from dinner with friends. Sadly, not only was he hit by a car, but his wallet was also stolen during the chaos.
According to Aguilera, after the accident, locals called for an ambulance but some opportunistic individuals took advantage of the situation and robbed him. Initially denied care at a nearby hospital, Aguilera was eventually taken to a public hospital where he was diagnosed with a brain bleed and a cracked skull. He was later sent home but had to undergo emergency brain surgery a few days later.
Miranda Augusta, a friend of Aguilera, mentioned that after the skull was removed, there was visible swelling outside of it on a CT scan. Currently, Aguilera is awaiting his final surgery to reattach his skull, which is being transported from Puerto Vallarta to Merida, Mexico. He will undergo additional therapy and a year of rehabilitation post-surgery.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by Aguilera’s loved ones to help cover his medical expenses, including caregiver support and long-term rehabilitation. The campaign has already raised over $28,000 of its $50,000 goal.
While Aguilera’s friends and family are optimistic about his progress, they emphasize that he still has a long road ahead of him. The recovery process will involve physical, speech, and occupational therapies that may span months or even years.
It is crucial for supporters to understand the full extent of Aguilera’s recovery journey and not assume that he is fully healed. Transparency and honesty about the challenges he still faces, including another major surgery and the need for proper rehabilitation, are essential to ensuring his continued progress. The focus should remain on providing ongoing support to aid Aguilera in his recovery process.
