Kais Khimji, a former partner at Sequoia Capital, has made a significant career shift from venture investor to startup founder with the launch of Blockit, an AI calendar-scheduling company. This idea was revived from his time as a student at Harvard, and after 10 years of development, Blockit has secured a $5 million seed round led by Sequoia.

The vision for Blockit is ambitious, with the potential to become a billion-dollar revenue business according to Pat Grady, Sequoia’s general partner. Khimji believes that Blockit’s AI agents, powered by advances in LLMs, can revolutionize scheduling by handling it seamlessly and efficiently. Unlike other scheduling tools like Calendly, Blockit aims to automate the entire scheduling process without requiring users to share availability links.

Co-founder John Hahn, with experience in calendar products at Google Calendar and other platforms, is helping Khimji build Blockit into an AI social network for managing time. The platform enables AI agents to negotiate meeting times directly, eliminating the need for back-and-forth emails. Users can simply copy the Blockit agent on an email or message it in Slack to initiate the scheduling process.

Blockit’s AI agents can be customized to prioritize meetings based on the tone of communication, showing a deep understanding of user preferences. By leveraging “context graphs,” Blockit aims to capture the underlying logic behind business decisions, offering a unique value proposition to its users. Already adopted by over 200 companies, including notable startups and venture firms, Blockit is available for a free trial before transitioning to an annual subscription model.

With its innovative approach to scheduling and AI-driven automation, Blockit is set to disrupt the calendar management space and streamline the way people manage their time. This venture marks a new chapter in Khimji’s entrepreneurial journey, positioning him as a pioneer in the AI scheduling landscape.
