Cain Velasquez, the former UFC heavyweight champion, has finally been reunited with his family after spending 11 months in prison. The reason for his incarceration was an alleged attempt to shoot a man who was accused of molesting one of his family members. The incident took place in February 2022, and Cain was released on parole after pleading no contest to the charges.
In a heartwarming video shared online, Cain can be seen getting dropped off by a shuttle and warmly greeted by his children outside a California prison. A mariachi band added to the joyous atmosphere, creating a welcome home party for the retired mixed martial artist. It was a touching moment as Cain embraced his loved ones after such a long and challenging time apart.
The man Cain was accused of shooting at, Harry Goularte, is still facing a felony charge of lewd acts with a minor. According to ESPN, Cain has also filed a civil case against Goularte in connection to the allegations. Despite being sentenced to five years, Cain received credit for the time he spent in county jail following his arrest, as well as for the time he spent on house arrest leading up to his 2024 trial.
Throughout the ordeal, the UFC stood by Cain, with CEO Dana White even writing a letter to the court in support of him. White described Cain as a “model example of how a professional athlete should carry himself,” highlighting the respect and admiration the organization has for the former champion.
This reunion marks a new chapter for Cain Velasquez as he begins to rebuild his life and move forward from the challenges he has faced. With his family by his side and the support of his fans and the UFC community, Cain can now focus on healing and moving on from this difficult period in his life.
