A former WWE champion, Dolph Ziggler, took to social media today to call out UFC legend Conor McGregor. McGregor, known for his success in the MMA world, hasn’t competed since his defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. Ziggler, a wrestling veteran who was released by WWE in 2023, has since found success in TNA Wrestling.
In a post responding to a fan’s question about his dream opponent, Ziggler boldly challenged McGregor, stating, “McGregor, I’ll cut down.” This challenge has sparked interest among fans and the wrestling community, as Ziggler expressed his willingness to drop weight to face the UFC fighter.
Ziggler’s recent appearance on WWE RAW in November 2025 for the Last Time is Now tournament, where he competed against Gunther, who ultimately retired John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Currently performing as Nic Nemeth in TNA, Ziggler is part of a tag team with his brother, Ryan Nemeth, and recently defeated The Righteous’ Dutch and Vincent on TNA Impact.
On a separate note, popular WWE star Matt Cardona shared on social media that he would choose Dolph Ziggler to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame. Cardona praised Ziggler’s comedic skills and mentioned Brian Myers and his wife, WWE star Chelsea Green, as other potential options for his induction speech.
It remains to be seen whether Conor McGregor will respond to Ziggler’s challenge, but the call-out has certainly generated buzz among fans. As the wrestling and MMA worlds collide, this potential matchup has the potential to be a must-see event for fans of both sports.
