A Fort Collins Man Arrested for Kidnapping and Car Chase Now Accused of Involvement in Shooting
A Fort Collins man, Shane McSwane, 28, was arrested this week for allegedly kidnapping an Aurora woman and leading law enforcement on a car chase down Interstate 25. However, he has since been accused of involvement in a shooting that took place last Friday.
A warrant was issued for McSwane on Thursday for attempted murder in connection with the shooting that occurred in the 1400 block of Reed Street in north Lakewood, according to court records and Lakewood Police Department spokesperson John Romero.
McSwane was apprehended on Monday by Pueblo County deputies, who ended a nearly 30-mile pursuit by crashing into his vehicle. It was reported that he carjacked an Aurora woman, forced her to touch him sexually, and robbed a convenience store.
McSwane is facing several felony charges for Monday’s incident, including second-degree motor vehicle theft, second-degree kidnapping, unlawful sexual contact, and aggravated robbery. He is currently being held at the Pueblo County Detention Facility.
