Firefighters are currently battling a house fire in Forth St, North Dunedin.

The Fire and Emergency services were alerted to the fire at around 10:20pm. Initial response from the Willowbank and Dunedin stations was quickly escalated as the fire grew in intensity, with additional engines from the St Kilda and Roslyn stations deployed to the scene.

The fire has now spread to multiple levels of the house, creating a challenging situation for the firefighters.

A crowd of curious onlookers has gathered near the scene, prompting authorities to urge everyone to stay indoors and allow the emergency services to work on controlling the fire. While the situation is currently under control, a section of Forth St has been closed off as a precaution.

Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries in connection with the fire, according to Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
