Fourth of July Fireworks Cause Devastating Fires in Denver Metro Area
By Adria Iraheta, Denver7
Fourth of July celebrations took a tragic turn in the Denver metro area this year, as multiple families were left homeless after fires sparked by fireworks.
On Pebblewood Ct. in unincorporated Douglas County, South Metro Fire Rescue crews responded to a fire at a home late in the night. The flames had engulfed the garage and were spreading to the attic.
Thankfully, Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies assisted in evacuating the residents of the home while SMFR firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Several pets, including dogs and cats, were rescued and reported to be unharmed.
“Due to the intensity of the fire in the garage, neighboring homes had to be evacuated as a precaution,” explained South Metro Fire Rescue spokesperson Connor Christian.
