Travis Decker, a fugitive dad suspected of triple murder, was heard in chilling audio pleading for more time with his three daughters just months before their tragic deaths. The audio, taken from a September 2024 custody hearing and shared by the Wenatchee World, captured Decker claiming that he had never put his daughters in any unsafe situations during their time together.
In the recording, Decker can be heard explaining that every time he had his daughters, they were in safe environments such as campsites and national forests. However, on May 30, Decker allegedly killed his three daughters – Olivia, 5, Evelyn, 8, and Paityn, 9 – after taking them during a court-ordered visitation. Their bodies were found with plastic bags on their heads and zip ties around their wrists near Rock Island Campground in a remote spot of Washington state.
Despite an extensive manhunt, Decker remains on the run and faces three counts of first-degree murder and kidnapping. The custody hearing where the audio was recorded took place after a judge granted near-full custody to the girls’ mother, Whitney Decker, due to concerns about Travis Decker’s declining mental health and unstable living situation.
In the audio, Decker acknowledged that his living situation, which involved living between his RV and army accommodation, was not ideal for bringing up three young girls. He admitted to financial difficulties but insisted that he had never put his daughters at risk. The judge warned Decker that his situation was not stable for his children and emphasized the importance of providing a stable environment for them.
The small town of Wenatchee, where the girls lived with their mother, remains in shock following the tragic discovery. Mayor Mike Poirier urged the community to support each other in this difficult time. The search for Travis Decker continues, and the community mourns the loss of Olivia, Evelyn, and Paityn Decker.
